Engineers and Chemists -- Student Positions Available

Our Illinois office recruits students for internship or cooperative educational programs. Students will work with the engineers, chemists and instrument technicians of our stack-testing/field services team.

We look for students interested in learning and performing US EPA air emissions measurements using Continuous Emission Monitors (CEM), Gas Chromatography (GC), Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR), and wet chemistry. We quantify acid rain precursors, organics, metals, and other particulate using grab samples and/or continuous monitoring. Learn skills including analyzer setup, analyzer troubleshooting, data acquisition automation, equipment calibration, database design and data reporting. Experience with or knowledge of EPA methods not necessary. Ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge essential. Students will generally visit two or more industrial plants each month.

The work is challenging-- often requiring physical labor in process facilities or outdoors climbing emission stacks. Each student will be assigned a CleanAir mentor for the duration of the internship. After initial training, students will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of the air quality requirements for each visited facility, and will develop a training document focusing on an industrial process. This is a valuable opportunity to gain experience in Environmental/Air Quality Engineering.

Most positions are for summer work and are filled in the spring.  We prefer students who are considering full time employment in the environmental field upon graduation.  We are looking for a few good fits for a future career with our company.  We are an equal opportunity employer of legal residents of USA or France.
