Construction Superintendent

Commercial Building – Pittsburgh

 

 JOB SPECIFICATION                                                                                     
CleanAir Engineering Construction Division is looking for a Single Project Superintendent in Western Pennsylvania.

Project Location :    RIDC Park West, Pittsburgh, PA 15275

Supervise the daily activities for the renovation of an existing 22,000 sq. ft. 2 story office-laboratory while simultaneously construction a new 10,000 sq. ft attached warehouse. Ensuring that the high quality work is performed in a safe and organized manner, is in compliance with the drawings and specifications plus on schedule and on cost projection.

This opening is based in Clean Air Engineering's Pittsburgh office near the Pittsburgh Airport.

Reports to the Project Manager/Construction Manager.

Available to start working within the next 30 days.

Anticipated Project Duration: 6-9 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate project safety meetings for the on-site labor force.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, material vendors and direct labor forces via planning and scheduling.
  • Control the hiring and layoff of on-site labor
  • Interface with the local officials to resolve site-specific labor disputes.
  • Maintain open communication and goodwill with the stakeholder representatives, by coordinating pertinent work activities, attending project progress/scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and report problems or deficiencies to the Project Manager/Construction Manager.
  • Document on-site activities which may impede progress or compliance to project/contract requirements.
  • Maintain strict control over the project cost for each work activity and assist on preparing monthly cost projections.
  • Identify, document and coordinate extra work.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices in cooperation with the Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A project list must be included with your application
  • A minimum of 8 years of construction experience with 5 years as a superintendent with supervision of subcontracted work.
  • Experience working in the corporate & building cultures industries.
  • Firsthand experience of construction trades in Pittsburgh Area.
  • Recent experience working on similar project in Pittsburgh Area.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Computer experience with Primavera, Viewpath 3.0 or similar project software and Microsoft Office.
  • Commercial project experience with at least one being under $2 million.
  • Experience working with multiple interests on the same project.
  • OSHA 30 Training.

AUTHORITY

  • Exercise strict adherence to OSHA, Company and Owner safety rules and regulations.  Properly train and monitor activity of jobsite personnel with regard to safe practices.
  • Staff project with competent craft supervision, in conjunction with project management and construction manager.
  • Authorize payment for materials/services covered under purchase order/subcontract and materials under $1000 in value.
  • Negotiate prices related to contract scope changes with subcontractors and material suppliers in cooperation with the Project Manager.
