The Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission - represents the governors of 37 states -- 30 members and seven associate states -- that produce virtually all the domestic oil and natural gas in the United States. The organization was established by the governors in 1935 and is among the oldest and largest interstate compacts in the nation. The IOGCC assists states in balancing interests -- maximizing domestic oil and natural gas production, minimizing the waste of irreplaceable natural resources, and protecting human and environmental health -- through sound regulatory practices.

The American Petroleum Institute - The API is the major national trade association representing the entire petroleum industry: exploration and production, transportation, refining, and marketing. With headquarters in Washington, D.C., and petroleum councils in 33 states, it is a forum for all parts of the oil and natural gas industry to pursue priority public policy objectives and advance the interests of the industry in a legally appropriate manner.

Petroleum Marketers Association of America - PMAA is a federation of 42 state and regional trade associations representing 7,850 independent petroleum marketers nationwide. The bulk of these marketers are small, family businesses serving the petroleum needs of their local community. Collectively, these marketers sell approximately half the gasoline, 60% of the diesel fuel and 80% of the home heating oil consumed in America annually

The World Petroleum Congresses - The World Petroleum Congresses was founded in London in 1933. It provides a forum for discussing the issues facing the oil industry on a worldwide basis and is strictly non-political. The WPC is dedicated to the application of scientific advances in the oil and gas industries, to technology transfer and to the use of the world's petroleum resources for the benefit of mankind. The WPC's 59 member countries represent over 90% of the worlds major oil and gas producing and consuming nations of the world. Each country has a national committee made up from representatives of the oil and gas industry, academia and research institutions and government departments. Attendance at WPC Congresses is open to all and over 90 countries are usually represented. The Congresses held regularly over the last 65 years have traditionally covered all aspects of the industry from exploration to downstream activities. More recently these topic have been expanded to include petroleum finance, management and environmental issues.
