“CleanAir
has performed thousands of mercury tests on municipal
and hazardous waste fired boilers over the last 20 years
and developed a detailed understanding of the impact
that fuel and ash chemistry, boiler type, and emission
control technologies have on mercury emissions. We are
transferring this expertise to Utilities in order to
deliver high-quality results.”

The
challenges facing Utilities to comply with the Clean Air Mercury
Rule (CAMR) will require mercury testing with the lowest attainable
uncertainty.
CleanAir
is addressing this challenge by advancing QA/QC measures to include
the development of sample spiking procedures, the use of paired-sampling
trains to assess the sampling and analytical uncertainty, and
minimizing interferences and biases by passivating our sampling
equipment using Siltek®/Sulfinert® coatings.
Others
are claiming that it will be nearly impossible to pass a mercury
CEMS relative
accuracy test audit without
the cost of an onsite laboratory for the Ontario Hydro analysis. Through
proper QA/QC measures, these tests can be performed successfully without
the need for an expensive onsite lab.

Our
teams of trained personnel and state-of-the-art equipment are
ready to help you in all facets of mercury testing and consulting. We
can determine the mercury speciation over single air pollution
control devices or provide compliance strategy planning using mercury
balances across entire facilities. With our continuous mercury
CEMS or semi-continuous sorbent-based monitoring systems, we can
study the long-term effects of fuel variability and control equipment
performance.
