Consulting & Permitting

"Consulting and permitting is the integrating service we provide–it pulls together all of the other things that we do. Essentially, when we work with a client on a consulting basis, we’re not trying to sell them stack testing or rent equipment. We’re trying to find what their problem is and the best way to solve it."

--Scott Evans, Vice-President Regulatory Affairs

With federal and state environmental regulations hovering over your industry–hiring a consultant may seem like having one more person telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. At Clean Air Engineering, our consultants are backed with experts in field testing, data analysis, equipment design, data management and training–we don’t just tell you what you need to do to comply, we have the resources and experience to help you do it. We know the ins and outs of permitting and compliance issues for dozens of industries including:

  • Cement Production
  • Electrical Utilities
  • Chemical Manufacturing
  • Natural Gas Processing
  • Petroleum Refining
  • Pulp and Paper Manufacturing
  • Waste Treatment and Disposal
  • Communications and Electronics
  • Fuel Combustion Processes
  • Metals Refining and Processing
  • Pharmaceutical Processing
  • Surface Coating
  • Agricultural Processing
  • Glass Manufacturing
  • Mining
  • Semi-Conductor Manufacturing

Compliance is only part of the picture. Process problems cost money. Clean Air Engineering consulting services will reduce those costs-- from simple process tune-ups to complicated process problems-- improving process efficiency and your bottom line. And we’re not afraid to team up with other industries and disciplines in order to help develop the process improvements you need. We specialize in several types of environmental consulting including:

"We solved a mist problem for a customer who had water droplets forming inside a stack where there was SO2 in the gas stream–the resulting sulfuric acid was eating away at the interior of their stack. We designed special mist eliminators to solve their problem–but had no experience working with plastics or injection molding. We successfully partnered with a plastic manufacturer to develop the injection mold forms. These "mist eliminators" are now a regular product offering."

Process Consulting
In many cases, emissions represent lost product or raw materials. Data from a properly designed emissions monitoring program gives you the information you need to improve process efficiency while maximizing throughput. Clean Air Engineering process engineers have the experience and capability to evaluate and modify process operations in response to your need to:
  • Improve products and production rate
  • Reduce downtime
  • Lower costs
  • Determine process limits
  • React to product and raw material changes
  • Select and purchase equipment
  • Upgrade or modify equipment to extend operating life
  • Inventory emission sources
  • Improve and streamline pollution control equipment
