Third Party Verification Services

Third party independent verification of GHG management activities is one of the underpinning principles of ISO 14064-3 that ensures the credibility of corporate inventories, annual reports, of reduction projects which are used to gain access to GHG registries, GHG markets and emission credits trading.

CleanAir offers a range of verification services and is in the process of becoming an accredited verifier and is currently participating in the ANSI Pilot Program for Accreditation under ISO 14065 Requirements which will be required by the Climate Registry.

COMMITMENT TO IMPARTIALITY

June 1, 2009

Managing Impartiality, Confidentiality, and Conflict of Interest for GHG Verification Activities to Ensure Objectivity.

Clean Air Engineering understands the critical issues associated with identifying and managing conflict of interest issues that can affect, or have the potential to affect verification processes related to GHG assertions by its clients.  Procedures have been established and implemented to ensure that our verification processes are impartial, our personnel and/or contracted personnel do not have conflict issues with verification work for any client, and that Clean Air Engineering does not have client or other relationship that have the potential to affect our verification decisions.

Confidentiality is of the utmost importance and is essential to our integrity, which is key to developing long-term relationships with our clients.  Personnel/contracted personnel of Clean Air are instructed to never give, offer, or authorize the transmittal, directly or indirectly, of any data collected or generated for a client to any other organization or person (including the EPA) without written approval from an authorized client representative, or discuss the data or share an opinion about the data with a member of the media without written approval from an authorized client representative.

Conflict of Interest and objectivity, as well as confidentiality are further covered through annual training sessions on the CleanAir Code of Ethics and Integrity Statement.  The procedures are designed to ensure objectivity for all verification activities and provide a high level of confidence that Clean Air Engineering Certification meets all accreditation requirements for GHG verification practices.

Clean Air Engineering has a complaints and appeals process that is available on request for all issues or decisions made related to GHG verification activities for clients.  Please contact Allen Kephart at (412) 787-9130 ext. 223 to obtain a copy of this procedure.
