Mobile CEM and Laboratory Facilities

CleanAir maintains a fleet of mobile trailers and trucks for CEM testing and support for on-site laboratory activities.  Examples of our fleet are shown below.

CEM Trailers

CleanAir can mobilize in a minute’s notice to perform continuous emissions monitoring anywhere in the country.  We can also provide this service overseas, and have performed CEM projects as far away as China, New Zealand and the Philippines.  Our trailers are used to execute such projects as:

  • CEMS Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA)
  • Gas Turbine Tuning
  • SCR Retrofit Tuning and Performance Guarantee Tests
  • Compliance Monitoring
  • Temporary CEMS
  • PEMS Certifications

Typical gases monitored using our trailers include:

  • Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) using chemiluminescent analyzers
  • Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) using ultraviolet (UV) absorption analyzers
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) using gas filter correlation non-dispersive infrared (GFC/NDIR) analyzers
  • Total Hydrocarbons (THC) using flame ionization analyzers (FIA)
  • Oxygen (O2) using paramagnetic analyzers
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) using non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) analyzers
  • Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analyzers

CEM Trucks

CleanAir can mobilize in a minute’s notice to perform continuous emissions monitoring anywhere in the country.  Our CEM Trucks are comprehensively packaged rolling laboratories outfitted with the latest in monitoring technology.  These trucks are used to execute projects where mobilization speed and site mobility are key requirements.  Typical projects include:

  • Gas Turbine Tuning
  • SCR Retrofit Tuning and Performance Guarantee Tests
  • CEMS Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA)
  • Compliance Monitoring

Projects performed with these units incorporate immediate on-site data accessibility and reporting through our on-board computer Ethernet system.  Typical gases monitored using our trucks include:

  • Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) using chemiluminescent analyzers
  • Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) using ultraviolet (UV) absorption analyzers
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) using gas filter correlation non-dispersive infrared (GFC/NDIR) analyzers
  • Total Hydrocarbons (THC) using flame ionization analyzers (FIA)
  • Oxygen (O2) using paramagnetic analyzers
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) using non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) analyzers
  • Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analyzers

Mobile Laboratory Trailers

There are many reasons that necessitate an on-site laboratory during a project.  Sometimes a project can’t wait two weeks for the lab results to come back.  Sometimes crucial decisions must be made based on the test results, and adjustments must be made to a process or piece of control equipment before the next measurement is made.  Perhaps thousands of dollars hinge on the compliance status of the test results, or maybe the test method is such that the analysis must be made within a few hours.  These types of projects dictate an on-site facility capable of full-scale laboratory analysis.

CleanAir can provide a mobile laboratory to any project any time these situations arise.  Typical analyses that are performed in one of our on-site trailers include:

  • Gravimetric analysis for filterable and condensable particulate.
  • Field gas chromatography (GC) for VOCs.
  • Field ion chromatography (IC) for HCl, ammonia, sulfate.
  • Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
  • Specific ion electrode (SIE) for ammonia, chlorides, sulfates.
  • General wet chemistry for criteria pollutants.
