Determination
of Vinyl Chloride Emissions from Stationary Sources – USEPA
Method 106
USEPA Method 106 is used to determine gaseous vinyl chloride emissions
from ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride, and polyvinyl chloride manufacturing
processes. An integrated bag sample of stack gas containing
vinyl chloride is subjected to GC analysis using a flame ionization
detector (FID).
When resolution interferences of vinyl chloride are encountered on
some sources, the chromatograph operator selects the column and operating
parameters best suited to the particular analysis requirements.
The selection made is subject to approval of the Administrator.
Approval is automatic, provided that confirming data are produced
through an adequate supplemental analytical technique, and that the
data are available for review by the Administrator.
This method does not measure vinyl chloride contained in particulate
matter. |
