Field
Chemists
Clean Air’s Field Chemists specialize in obtaining highly
accurate emissions data for organic and inorganic compounds using
advanced measurement technologies. Our chemists are trained
in field application of gas chromatography (GC), Fourier transform
infrared (FTIR) spectrometry and ion chromatography (IC).
These chemists are veteran stack testers who, in addition to their
expertise in laboratory procedures, also know how to make sophisticated
lab instruments work in a field environment.
Some of the more common applications of this expertise includes:
- Speciated
VOC measurements (USEPA Method 18)
- Formaldehyde,
HCl, and organic HAP studies using FTIR (USEPA Methods 316, 318,
320 and 321)
- Ammonia
determination for SCR tuning and performance testing (USEPA Conditional
Method CTM-027)
- HCl CEMS
relative accuracy test audits (USEPA Method 26)
The ability
to perform these analyses on-site has the advantage of determining
test results while the sampling crew is still at the plant.
If additional testing is necessary, either due to process adjustments
or sampling issues, the crew can do it immediately without the cost
of remobilization.
