If you need to address upcoming federal or state regulations, comply with local ordinances and consent decrees, respond to an incident, or want to be proactive, CleanAir can help design and implement an ambient air and fugitive emissions monitoring solution. As an agency-audited industrial Primary Quality Assurance Organization (PQAO), CleanAir has a proven track record of operating air monitoring networks to the high standards of State and Local Air Monitoring Stations (SLAMS), generating data that is accurate, representative, well-documented, and defensible.

CleanAir has the technical expertise to meet any monitoring requirements, from using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) measurement or sampling methods to advanced Next Generation Emissions Measurements (NGEM) employing emerging technologies. CleanAir performs ambient air monitoring and fugitive emissions studies and provides monitoring services to determine criteria pollutants, volatile organic compounds (VOC), and hazardous air pollutant (HAP) concentrations to help its industrial clients achieve their environmental goals.

  • Monitoring network design and integration of real-time ambient air monitoring instrumentation
  • Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) and Site-Specific Monitoring Plan (SSMP) development and implementation
  • Incident response air monitoring and planning
  • Odor and nuisance complaint investigations
  • Fenceline sampling and real-time monitoring to support dispersion modeling and human health exposure & risk assessments
  • Mobile monitoring and remote fugitive emissions rate determination
  • Meteorological data collection and evaluation
  • Data quality assurance, validation, presentation, and electronic reporting
  • Monitoring network operation auditing
  • Data analysis and back-trajectory modeling
  • Stakeholder communications and engagement

More About Doug

Dr. Goetz joined Clean Air Engineering (CleanAir) in 2023 and has been responsible for developing CleanAir’s mobile monitoring capabilities to measure fugitive emissions of criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and greenhouse gases. He is CleanAir’s Principal Consultant responsible for the management of large federal method grade fine particulate monitor networks and HAPs monitors located at oil and gas facilities in the Appalachian Basin. Dr. Goetz specializes in fugitive emission measurements and reporting and frequently provides input on various technical and regulatory matters. Prior to his engagement with CleanAir, Dr. Goetz was a research scientist who focused on upper tropospheric monitoring in remote locations in the tropics and Antarctica.
