Noise monitoring usually falls into two categories: OSHA-type worker exposure monitoring and ambient nuisance monitoring. CleanAir performs both utilizing Class-1 noise monitors that provide A-weighted sound levels. The area ambient nuisance monitoring is typically done on the perimeter of a facility at numerous points following ASTM protocols. We support it with wind speed and direction instruments to correlate the sound data with the facility. Daytime and nighttime traversers are made as well as weekday and weekend data collection to construct a picture of the noise emitted from the facility.

Worker exposure projects involve monitoring the sound levels during normal work shifts in the area where workers would be exposed. We have done this inside manufacturing facilities on a floor-by- floor, area-by- area basis and mapped the results. This type of survey can also be done outside during loading/unloading operations that involve worker proximity to machinery.
