Flare Service

Burning flare questions? We’ve got answers.

We entered into the world of gas flares because we enjoy tackling tough measurement projects, and measuring flare emissions certainly qualifies. Since the EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA) began targeting flaring efficiency violations in the late 2000s, we have helped industry clients address a changing regulatory landscape. Our team has extensive experience conducting regulatory assessments, assisting with consent decree negotiations and conducting extensive field tests to characterize performance.

Flare Gas Analysis

Are you looking for temporary flare gas analysis? If so, we can help you verify the accuracy of your permanent analyzer and even install a temporary system that you can use to avoid analyzer downtime. Once the system is installed, the system can be remotely accessed and controlled through CleanCloud. We also have gas chromatographs available for rent to help you measure hydrogen, nitrogen, hydrocarbons, and other vent gas components according to your specific needs.

Combustion and Destruction Efficiency Testing

Our clients have been able to characterize the performance of their flares with our cutting-edge, remote-sensing technology. They’ve used their test data to assess and demonstrate compliance with permits, establish site-specific control limits, obtain AMEL approval, negotiate successful consent decree settlements and conduct cost-benefit analysis for recovery installations. We perform real-time remote sensing of gas flare emissions using Open Path Fourier Transform Infrared (OP-FTIR) technology through either an active or passive (PFTIR) approach.

Alternative Means of Emission Limitation (AMEL)

Having a gas flare that doesn’t fit traditional classifications can be frustrating. For most, the regulatory limits in flaring regulations do a good job at maintaining high efficiency. However, some flares do not require these strict regulatory limits.
We are here to help you demonstrate that you meet the intent of the regulations. Operating outside of regulatory limits requires an Alternative Means of Emission Limitation (AMEL) from the EPA. We specialize in using publicly available test results to provide our clients with data-driven requests for alternative compliance limits.

Additional Services

Our clients need to address a broad range of issues and we have seen it all. This is why we also assist our clients in many other ways as well:
